Unwind with a warm, freshly brewed coffee, your favourite mag, a novel plucked from the bookshelf, a Netflix binge or just an old fashioned board game - it's all there waiting for you. Guessing it's been a while since you've had that kind of permission to just be. We thought you might enjoy our tips to creating a dreamy, stylish and ever-so cosy cool-season oasis wherever you are. Winter you delightful beast. Bring it!!
What’s better in Winter than being curled up on the couch with a hot cuppa and a book. It just has to be a snuggle-worthy couch, so if yours is leather, cover it with a warm throw first. Our current favourite throw is sheepskin from NZ brand Wilson & Dorset. They're third generation sheep farmers who've developed the most luxurious sheepskin range and they're are all about redefining lounging. Couch upholstered already? All you need is a couple of warms blankets at arms reach. If your'e not the master of the perfectly placed throw, why not fold them up and put them in a beautiful basket (Dharma Door has some fab ones and you can buy online too) which you can include as part of your decor.
We love the feel of seasoned hardwood boards, polished concrete or beautifully tiled floors but come winter we like to layer it up with some thick, plush rugs. They add lots of texture, define spaces within a space and scream cosy. Our love of rugs is no surprise, and you’ll find gems from Mar-Kett, Tigmi Trading, Armadillo & Co and Dharma Door throughout all of our properties. All. Year. Round!
Think weaves, furs, tassels, velvet and more in your soft furnishings. Whether it's cushions, throws, curtains, or rugs, layered texture creates dimension and warmth. It creates a home.
Salad is no-one’s friend when the thermometer heads south! It’s the season for warm and hearty aromatic dishes, with lots of flavour-filled juices to soak up with fresh crusty bread. It's about time-saver meals so maybe now's the moment to invest in a slow-cooker and researching the recipe offerings from your favourite cooks. Or if you've chosen to chill with us in Byron Bay, Bower Cottage and Bower House have full kitchens, so you can pop on your apron and get all Master Chef. Either that or order in one of our gourmet platters so the most you have to do is fill the wine glass.
