What time is check in and check out?

Our standard check-in time is 2PM and check out is 10AM.

Can I arrange an earlier check-in?

A request for early check-in can be made with our Bower reception team, however, it is not guaranteed. While we will always do our best to have the room ready for you if you wish to guarantee an early check-in the room should be booked for the night prior.

Can I arrange a later check-out?

If you’d like a later check-out please contact reception the day prior to your departure to discuss. We are also able to store your luggage for the day while you continue to explore Byron

Is there a minimum check-in age at The Bower?

The minimum check-in age for the main guest on the reservation is 21 years. During the Schoolies dates (mid-November – mid-December) we require photo id at check-in as we do not take Schoolies reservations.

When is the reception open?

Our reception is open from 9AM – 5PM daily.   We no longer have a night manager onsite. We have an after hours number to call for inhouse emergencies: 6680-9577, then press 1.

How do I check-in after reception hours?

We have a key safe just to the left of reception where we will leave your keys and instructions to access your room. The code to access the key safe will be texted and emailed to you.

General Hotel Information

Can I walk to the beach & town?

We are located within a 15 minute stroll to town and 20 minutes to the beaches. We also offer complimentary bikes to get around town.

Which airport should I fly into?

The closest airports to Byron Bay are Ballina/Byron Gateway (35 km away) and the Gold Coast Airport (68 km away). Brisbane is also an option only 2 hours drive away (166 km). We are happy to arrange a private transfer or shuttle bus if needed.

Is there free parking onsite?

All of our rooms are allocated free parking. We do have some visitors parking as well. The street parking on Bangalow Road is free and unlimited.

Does The Bower have a swimming pool?

Yes! We have a heated, natural mineral pool and that means a luxury, rejuvenating, relaxing swimming experience, with softer, silkier, clearer water. It's gentler on the skin and gentler on the environment. Win-win in our books. The pool is for our in house guests only and is open from 8am – 7pm daily.

Does The Bower offer gift cards or vouchers?

Yes, we can offer gift cards either to apply to a certain booking or just an amount. Vouchers can be emailed for you to print or posted to you.

Is there a restaurant onsite or is breakfast included?

We do not have a restaurant onsite. We can highly recommend the Café next door called “The General Store”.

Is there free wifi and is it high speed?

Yes, we have NBN and with the node literally at our front door we get some of the fastest speeds in Byron!


Is full payment required at the time of booking?

We take full payment 30 days prior to arrival for all bookings outside of our peak seasons. During Peak times we charge a 20% non-refundable deposit to confirm the booking and the remainder is charged 30 days prior to arrival.

When is Peak Season?

Our high seasons are Christmas / New Years (22 December – 7 January), Easter and Splendour in The Grass.

Do I need to pay a deposit when I make a booking?

During peak season a 20% deposit is required to confirm the booking for all of our Suite rooms and Barn. Group bookings of 4 rooms or more require a non-refundable 20% deposit at the time of booking with the balance charged 30 days prior to arrival.

How do I cancel my booking?

For direct bookings with The Bower please email or call to cancel your reservation. For online travel agent bookings please contact the agent.

How can I make a booking for a larger group?

Group bookings are best discussed and confirmed over the phone or via email at


Can I smoke in the room?

All of our houses and suites are strictly non-smoking. There is a designated smoking area on the property.

Do you accept children?

We welcome children at The Bower.

Are the rooms serviced daily?

All of our rooms are serviced daily – who doesn’t love to have their bed made when on holiday?

Can I request an extra bed in the room?

Unfortunately, there is no capacity for extra beds.

What is your party policy?

We have a very strict NO PARTY policy. The Bower is in a residential area, we have lovely neighbours and noise travels easily especially at night.

Do you allow pets?

No, we don’t take pets at The Bower, but can highly recommend the lovely Shambhala at Belongil.
