This is what Dimity had to say:
“The Bower Cottage is insanely divine! I’ve never stayed in more beautiful accommodation and from the moment we walked in we felt completely relaxed and indulged. The staff are so friendly and warm and went above and beyond to make sure our stay was a memorable one. The girls were greeted with a special birthday present and Zaeli was thrilled to discover that not only did we have fabulous retro-style bikes to use at our leisure, she had one just her size to ride too.
I instantly fell in love with all the elements that had been retained of the original cottage – the beautifully restored doors and windows, the walls clad in panelled timber, the floor boards and the big beautiful spaces and sun-filled rooms. There’s something special about watching the changing shadows and light coming through billowing linen curtains, and The Bower Cottage is full of them.
As a family with littlies, it was just wonderful to have the use of a stunning kitchen, superbly provisioned for our every need. We bought everything we needed for breakfast at the beginning of the week which made starting the day easy before heading out to explore Byron and its renowned beaches. The Bower location is just perfect for young families - close enough to town and all its restaurants and bars to get to in minutes but out of the hustle and bustle.
The Bower Cottage’s huge living area, with its big comfy couch for day-time sleeps, was a wonderful go-to space after boisterous playtime with the girls in the three lush and very inviting outdoor areas. We were just thrilled to find a huge jacaranda tree in the backyard that was dropping 'jacaranda snow' all over the deck. When the jacarandas start blooming it signifies we’re at the time of year when Zaeli and Ochre have their birthdays, so it was just lovely to have one there as we celebrated Oki’s first birthday. I decorated the living room at The Cottage with balloons and bunting and after opening presents around the birthday table we went to The Farm for delicious brekkie and to watch the pigs and chooks at play. Then it was to Harvest Newrybar for some birthday treats to enjoy later in the day after a swim in The Bower’s simply stunning new pool, our family’s favourite spot. Zaeli would have spent every minute of every day there given the chance! Its perfectly round shape is so elegant and it’s a natural mineral pool too. The water was a perfect temperature, there were big blow up chairs to float around in and soak up the sun, huge lounges to lay in the shade and the most luxurious warm outdoor shower embedded in lush tropical plantings. Just beautiful. After our swim, Oki’s birthday finished with some of the scrumptious treats we bought earlier from Harvest Newrybar. I’d say that’s a pretty magical way to spend your first birthday!
But back to the cottage. There are big generous beds smothered in yummy linen and that are just out-of-this-world comfortable. And the bathrooms? Simply divine, and the big double shower in the main bathroom meant we could all shower everyone together using the luxe toiletries provided. Who doesn’t love Hunter Lab and Kevin Murphy products and some cosy Bemboka robes to slip into afterwards.
We love that The Bower compound offers different types of accomodation to suit couples, families or groups, and for us, next on our wish list is The Bower Barn. But for now we’ve got enough wonderful memories to relive of our wonderful beach holiday at The Bower Cottage in beautiful Byron Bay!”
