Wow did this year fly! It seems just a minute ago we were list-making, carefully crafting our festive menus, planning catch-ups with family and friends, and wondering how we can make each week nine days long in the lead up to Christmas.

It’s always crazy busy but it’s a time of year The Bower team absolutely loves.

Then before you know it it’s New Years Eve and let’s face it, it’s all about party, party, party, making a whole new set of resolutions (we’re not breaking any of them this year…) and pondering what a brand new year, in fact a brand new decade will deliver to us and our loved ones.

We’re hoping you’ll be spending some of the Christmas/New Year break with us in Byron, and to make life super easy while you’re here, we’ve curated the best places to go on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve. There’s something for everyone from loved up couples to families and groups of your besties.

CHRISTMAS EVE

The Bangalow Christmas Eve Carnival is the place to be to see the main street of Bangalow transformed into a Christmas festival playground for locals and tourists alike. You’ll find lots of stalls of delicious foods, fun street performances, bands, face painting and so much more. It’s a kickback, magical and super friendly vibe and it’s a carnival for the whole family. Lots of the shops and cafes stay open for the night and the beautiful pub does too of course.

CHRISTMAS DAY

The Italian at The Pacific
The Italian, positioned directly opposite iconic Main Beach, is offering a 4-course lunch with just the right touch of festivities. We’d be ordering the Crispy Bangalow Pork Belly and the Snapper followed by a mouth-watering dessert duo, but that’s just us! All the details are available here.

Loft Byron Bay
Christmas Day in Byron Bay should be about relaxation, delicious food and beautiful scenery. That says Loft where an incredible four-course menu will be served starting with a decadent seafood platter. You’ll celebrate in style with a premium beverage menu including a celebratory festive spritz on arrival. It’s the perfect venue for large groups, families with children or couples wanting to do something a little bit special.

The Balcony Bar & Oyster Co
The Balcony Bar will be celebrating Christmas with an all-inclusive, scrumptious family feast, pretty much guaranteeing putting you into a festive-food coma! That’s a whole lot of Christmas excess right there but as well you’ll enjoy a glass of Piper Heidsieck on arrival and an all inclusive beverage package. NEW YEARS EVE

What better way to celebrate the closure of another cycle around the sun than under the open stars on the balcony of Byron Bay’s number-one nightclub, Locura. It’ll be a night to remember, headlined by Cut Copy, whose instinct for electronic pop has ignited stadiums across the globe. They’ll be joined by DJ, producer, composer Jono Ma who’s spent the past year nurturing a new scene and unique sound within the walls of Locura. Family Friendly – Soul Street

Soul Street is the ultimate family-friendly event on New Year’s Eve. The party in Byron Bay’s Jonson Street is free, fun, safe, community-driven and alcohol-free! It becomes a car-free hub of activities with artisan stalls, food stalls, roving performers and buskers. There’ll be face painter’s, numerous bands over four stages, circus performers, fire twirlers, drummers, lots of children’s activities and more. It truly is fun for the whole family. The Soul Street Market opens from 4pm to midnight too, providing a fabulous showcase of the creativity, lifestyle and talent in the region.

Say goodbye to 2019 with friends, family or lovers perched above the hustle and bustle of the streets of Byron Bay. Raise a glass and celebrate New Year’s Eve in style at Beach Byron Bay, the only restaurant in Byron right on the beach.
